Hair’s To Today…Yesterday

One of the benefits of 2pm Church is that there is plenty of time to take pictures of the Girlies and their cute hair.
I saw a cute ‘do on Babes in Hairland that was just begging to be done on LaLa.
Don’t you love the picture of my bobby pin placement?
For Roo I did a quick twist and pulled it back with a flower from All Things Ribbon.
Cute girlies ready for Church.
Another look at how cute it is.
The other nice thing is that it stayed in all day on our lazy spring break Monday and still looked cute.

Jammies and Hair

Spirit Week continues at Einstein’s school.
Today was pajama day. It makes me laugh that this boy thought he could just wear dirty pajamas today. Yeah…I don’t think so.
I did help him add bedhead into his hair for the day.
It makes me happy that he still wants to participate in these fun days.
~~~~~
On a separate note since it was Valentine’s Day it was time to bring out the heart hair do’s.
With Roo we went with a simple little heart that we have done before.
We just left the back down straight.
With LaLa we copied a fun braid from Babes in Hairland.
I did LaLa’s a little different and just pulled it back into a ponytail instead of 2 braids. Oh and I pulled out the glitter spray for just the braid. (the picture doesn’t really do it justice)
She is such a cutie!
Hair’s to Today
I am struggling with the best way to do these hair posts. If I save them up and do one post at the end of the week it’s a huge post, but I don’t want to do a daily post and have this blog turn into a hair blog. What to do? How would your rather see a hair post?
Now on the the important stuff…the hair.
I have had a bunch of questions about the Curlformers so here is a clip on how easy they are to use.
How to Curl Hair with Curlformers
1. I finally found the perfect product for smooth shiny curls with the Curlformers. I tried curl cream and gel and I didn’t like how heavy it made the hair and the curl wouldn’t last. This works great, and no build up on the hair:
This is how the curls turned out using this spray.
2. We did a simple look on Roo. Just pulled one side back in a flower. Her hair is so smooth and silky (poor thing) that clips don’t stay very well in her hair, so I pull it back in a little pony and clip the flower on that.
3. The next day I used the leftover curls for a super easy look on LaLa.
001
It’s a regular pony tail, but the instead of pulling the pony all the way through the hair band you just pull it halfway and make sure the ends are on top of the pony. This is what it looks like from underneath.
002
Happy Girly
4. LaLa felt bad that Roo didn’t get her picture taken because we didn’t do anything for her hair. She wears her hair plain occasionally for a couple of reason 1) she has beautiful straight, smooth hair, 2) it doesn’t get all messy even if she plays all day at school. So here is Roo au natural.
005
5. On this day I did two braids on one side of LaLa’s part
002
and one braid on the other.
003
I brought them back into one braid in the back and flipped it up with a hairband.
005
And curled the ends under with a flat iron.
001
Cute.
004
6. We had more fun with braids. On Roo I made 3 little braids right behind her bangs and then braided the 3 braids into one braid.
7. This is the original fancy hairdo I did on Roo many years ago. A simple ponytail divided into 6 rope braids.
007
To add a little flair I just flipped the ends up.
008
Simple and sweet.
009
8. The next day I took the rope braids out and did a single rope braid into a bun. It was quite messy.
001002
And then I realized it was completely off centered…so threw a little flower.
003
All better.
005
9. I did this pretty look on Roo and then when I was looking through one of the hair blogs I found this. I must have seen in and stored it away in my brain.
Now I am going to show you a couple tricks.
10. LaLa had a simple pony (with wet ends)
002
and you would think that would be enough, but NO.
004
She wanted a bow.
005
And if you have ever sent your girly to school and by the end of the day the bow has gone missing here is a trick to keep them secure.
You need one of these:
008
Loop it around the clip on the bow
009
And then pull it under the pony and hook it on the other end of the clip.
010
And then the bow stays where it’s supposed to be.
11. Roo likes to wear these crocheted hair bands. (They aren’t just for putting bows on bald babies)
011
But they don’t stay on very well, so I hold them in place with a couple of crossed bobby pins behind each ear.
014
Thumbs up!
013
See? I told you it was going to be huge…
Hair’s to Today
1. I think most anyone on Pinterest has seen this particular picture.
I had experimented with it before, but I couldn’t get it to stay in very well. Then on Sunday morning I pulled out the Curlformers for LaLa’s hair. Since the Curlformers were only in for a few hours the curl was very soft and I thought I would give this look another try. I did a slight twist and then a VERY loose fishbone braid and wrapped a piece of hair around the base…and sprayed the heck out of it with the strongest hairspray I have.
LaLa wanted a little bling added, but I think it would have been better fine without it.
2. I copied a fancy hair-do from Babes in Hairland, but I just left out the fancy.
001002003
After taking the picture I realized that it was totally off-centered. Oh well, still cute.
3. This is one of those hairstyles that has been around a long time, I remember doing it to my hair when I was in my early 20’s. I just added one more flip and it gives it a cheater fishbone braid look.
4. We are having more fun with Roo’s short hair. On this day I did 2 one-sided french braids and connected them at the bottom.
5. Easy bun day. I put LaLa’s hair in a ponytail and braided 2 braids. Then I tied the braids in a shoestring knot. Add a few bobby pins and a ribbon and you get cuteness.
6. I found this idea on Cute Girls Hairstyles. I was originally going to do it on LaLa but I decided it would be better on Roo’s super smooth hair.
7. There are days when I do the same ‘do on both girlies with a much different look.
012014
8. LaLa likes ponytails, especially when we do a princess ponytail.
001002003
Instead of just wrapping the band with hair I wrapped it with a twisted rope of hair.
