first day

We made it through the first day of school…but it wasn't easy.

The Big Boys both have zero hour at the high school. They are out the door bright and early in the morning.

The Man-Child is a junior.
I can’t tell you how many times he mentioned that he only has 2 more years of high school. Every time he said it my heart would break a little more.
Einstein is now a freshman.
I worried so much about him on the first day of school. He is truly one of the funniest people I know, but he is so painfully shy. I worried about him getting lost…both physically and emotionally.

To watch them drive off to school was pretty nerve-wracking. I know what the traffic is like on the first day of school. Not that I don’t trust the Man-Child’s driving abilities…it’s all the other people I worry about.

The Babies were the next to leave.

LaLa is now in 4th grade.
This is her last year at the elementary school.

Hammie is now in 2nd grade.
He was probably my least nervous child. He was ready to go bright and early.

When I dropped them off at school Hammie started to run to his friends waiting at the gate. I had to call him back to say goodbye to me.
This is the last year they will be walking in this gate together. boohoo.

And finally it was time for Roo to leave.
She’s in 7th grade and this is her first year at the jr high.
She could ride the bus to school, but Einstein had some issues on the bus last year so this year I told Roo I would drive her if she wanted. What kid would choose the bus over getting to ride with me every morning?!?

We were about half way to school and I asked her if she was nervous…
Way wrong question.
She started crying. I started crying. I kept telling her to stop crying so she wouldn’t ruin her make-up. I couldn’t think of anything else to say…

We finally had smiles on our faces by the time we pulled up to the school.

And then it was just me…
all by myself…don’t wanna be…all by myself

I may or may not have driven by the high school on my way home to make sure there wasn't any burning wreckage in front of the school. I did stop myself from driving through the parking lot…
Yes! I am that Mom!

I came home and watched trashy reality TV just waiting for them to get home.

I just feel better when my babies are home.

It’s Friday already?!?
~~~~~
Last Friday night I was happy to have a little snuggling time with LaLa.
~~~~~
On Sunday we enjoyed one of our favorite treats: Fruity Pebble Treats.
I may or may not have hidden a couple of pieces to enjoy on Monday while the kiddos were in school.
~~~~~
Right now it seems that my life is as chaotic as my bag…and not as nearly as colorful.
Maybe if I organize my bag my life will follow???
~~~~~
We live in the neighborhood behind our school so I usually pick the kidlets up at the back gate of our school. But since the back gate isn’t very wheelchair friendly it means I have to take the kidlets to the front of the school.
I can’t wait to be a back gate person again.
~~~~~
Who would have thought that this picture would start an unexpected war at our house?!?
Nobody’s phone or ipod was safe.
But soon they all turned against one person in particular: ME!
It took a few days to get them all back, but I finally did…it didn’t matter if that included posting less than flattering pictures.
I did have to call a Hacking Truce so that certain people could relax and not worry about sleeping with their phone…Man-Child.
~~~~~
Since I have to take Hammie into the school when I drop him off it has really changed my morning routine (and to be honest, my afternoon too). I think the whole school is thankful that I don’t walk the halls in my jammies and no makeup.
Who knows? It may be a permanent change to my morning routine.
~~~~~
I love that just a few minutes from my house and I can be in the desert.
It’s amazing how pretty and green the desert is since summer is still in full swing.
~~~~~
Have I mentioned that I love where I live?!?
~~~~~
I had fun experimenting with OPI’s sand polish. I love this polish for my toes because it lasts FOREVER. This was the first time I have used it on my fingers.
I’m kind of digging it. I thought maybe the texture would bug me, but not so much.
~~~~~
It’s always a good day if it includes a stop at QT.
It may come as a shock that it’s Coke and not DP flowing into my cup. I ‘m just shaking things up.
~~~~~
Where has my reading mojo gone?!?
I usually finish a book every couple of days.
This summer I’ve only read a couple of books.
I need less of this:
and more of this:
~~~~~~
We are really on the countdown for Hammie to get his cast off.
As of last Wednesday he only has 2 weeks left. Woo Hoo!
~~~~~
Yesterday I got my first call from a school nurse of the year. Boo!
And double Boo because it was soon followed by the second call of the year.
Roo went back to school today but Hammie got to start his long weekend early.
It’s been a few weeks since I did a Insta-Friday post so I went back a few weeks and grabbed  few pictures from my Instagram feed.
~~~~~

Things have been a little stressful at Casa de Chaos for the last few weeks.

I love that my skin likes to freak out when I’m stressed. Which doesn’t add to my stress at all.

I feel like I am going through puberty again…because it was so pleasant the first time.

These two Boyz…

They are such good kids. They were all ready to go to Baptisms at the Temple and I couldn’t resist taking a quick picture.

~~~~~
Back to school means too much time sitting like this:
~~~~~

The nastiness of a foot in a cast:

Enjoy!

~~~~~
I’m not big on being over-scheduled.
On certain Tuesdays I am supposed to get 3 kids to 3 different places…at the exact same time!
Done, done and done!
~~~~~

It’s August in the AZ.

There are the most hellacious bugs and spiders everywhere. This lovely guy was hanging out by the door in the garage.

Not a fan.

~~~~~
Even as a sophomore he is willing to embrace Nerd Day.
08-9576ab2604e311e3873822000aeb11d0_6
I can’t even explain how happy this makes me. And the amount of begging it took for him to let me take this picture was ridiculous…hasn’t he learned that Mom should always get her way?!?
~~~~~

I had to do a little search to find this picture of Roo.

She claimed the first broken bone for the Chaos Crew before she was even 2.

~~~~~
We had a follow up appointment for Hammie.
His leg is healing great and the cast comes off on September 11th. YAY!!!
~~~~~

He has a pressure sore on his heel that needed checked while we were at the doctor. To do that they cut a hole in his cast where it was hurting and added more padding to his heel.

Now his cast is super-heavy-duty and even more colorful.

~~~~~
He is also getting brave and is trying to do new things.
04-fd99ceac06f711e3929322000a9e0719_6
He was so happy when he found a way to get down on the floor. Silly boy!
The best part is that he can get up off the floor without any help also.
~~~~~

I was talking to Einstein and all of a sudden he got so excited!

02-d7b03cb6086511e3906622000a9e03eb_6

He realized that he is finally taller than me.

~~~~~
Marching Band season is starting. Last weekend the Man-Child brought his quads home for a little extra practice.
You know how loud these are on the football field? Imagine that sound in your family room. Nope…it’s louder that you can even imagine! But it still sounds pretty awesome.
Tonight is the first football game of the season.
Go Dawgs!
