It’s Friday already?!?

Last Friday night I was happy to have a little snuggling time with LaLa.

On Sunday we enjoyed one of our favorite treats: Fruity Pebble Treats.

I may or may not have hidden a couple of pieces to enjoy on Monday while the kiddos were in school.

Right now it seems that my life is as chaotic as my bag…and not as nearly as colorful.

Maybe if I organize my bag my life will follow???

We live in the neighborhood behind our school so I usually pick the kidlets up at the back gate of our school. But since the back gate isn’t very wheelchair friendly it means I have to take the kidlets to the front of the school.

I can’t wait to be a back gate person again.

Who would have thought that this picture would start an unexpected war at our house?!?

Nobody’s phone or ipod was safe.

But soon they all turned against one person in particular: ME!

It took a few days to get them all back, but I finally did…it didn’t matter if that included posting less than flattering pictures.

I did have to call a Hacking Truce so that certain people could relax and not worry about sleeping with their phone…Man-Child.

Since I have to take Hammie into the school when I drop him off it has really changed my morning routine (and to be honest, my afternoon too). I think the whole school is thankful that I don’t walk the halls in my jammies and no makeup.

Who knows? It may be a permanent change to my morning routine.

I love that just a few minutes from my house and I can be in the desert.

It’s amazing how pretty and green the desert is since summer is still in full swing.

Have I mentioned that I love where I live?!?

I had fun experimenting with OPI’s sand polish. I love this polish for my toes because it lasts FOREVER. This was the first time I have used it on my fingers.

I’m kind of digging it. I thought maybe the texture would bug me, but not so much.

It’s always a good day if it includes a stop at QT.

It may come as a shock that it’s Coke and not DP flowing into my cup. I ‘m just shaking things up.

Where has my reading mojo gone?!?

I usually finish a book every couple of days.

This summer I’ve only read a couple of books.

We are really on the countdown for Hammie to get his cast off.

As of last Wednesday he only has 2 weeks left. Woo Hoo!

Yesterday I got my first call from a school nurse of the year. Boo!

 

And double Boo because it was soon followed by the second call of the year.

Roo went back to school today but Hammie got to start his long weekend early.

Insta-Friday

There has been a lot going on here this last week.

We have missed watching the Olympics, good thing LaLa and Ham put on an impromptu synchronized swimming show for us.

~~~~~

We had a pretty nasty dust storm blow through one night. The next morning not only was the pool pretty messy with leaves, but also deck chairs.

~~~~~

Our 3rd percussionist of the family is in the making.

As a Mom it’s pretty cool listening to my kidlets working together and giving pointers to each other.

~~~~~

So I was getting a little tired of everyone else getting all the attention.

It’s actually an old injury that flares up every couple of years and I get to spend a few weeks dragging this crazy boot around.

This time I have the added fun of Plantar Fasciitis in my left foot. At night I’m supposed to wear both boots.

I haven’ t made it a whole night with both of them on. One is a bit annoying, but 2 takes it over the top to annoying as hell.

It’s been a bit warm here lately.

It’s too warm to not feel good, but that didn’t stop LaLa from getting an ear infection.

It was so bad that it had her in tears. Poor Thing.

You know it’s going to be pretty warm if it’s 98 degrees in the morning.

We are getting close to 2 years since we found out that Einstein has Celiac. We are still experimenting with new things to replace things that we miss…like flour tortillas.

Well rice flour tortillas aren’t as good as we wanted them to be. Boo.

Ham would rarely sleep in church when he was a baby.

I’m glad he doesn’t have a problem sleeping in Church as a 5 yr old.

Roo started taking a Cake Decorating class in an after-school program.

Not only did they look good, they tasted freakin’ awesome too.

~~~~~

Did you hear about the huge meteor shower? Well if you are going to take your kidlets out late at night to watch for falling stars it might be a good idea to take mosquito repellant with you.

Poor Ham was eaten alive.

The next afternoon I had given him some Benadryl to help with the itching.

It helped…

I thought maybe I was having hot flashes at night. Apparently not.

~~~~~

On a normal school day I spend a lot of time driving. When it’s a half day it’s down-right silly.

I did take a nap that afternoon to reward myself for my busy morning.

Maggie and Mollie spend a lot of time sleeping in the Girlies bed.

I think they have claimed it for their own and let Roo and LaLa borrow it.

Even if I liked you I probably wouldn’t vote for you after this little trick.

My fingernails don’t usually grow very well, but lately they look kind of nice.

I’ve had fun playing with my OPI collection.

Wordless Wednesday - Fever

Of course I couldn’t get sick while all the kids were sick and just laying around. Nope, I waited until everyone was healthy and back in school. It’s just so much easier that way.

When Pigs Fly

I am not usually a person that gets freaked out by stuff in the media, but I have been totally obsessed with all the stories about Swine Flu.

So on Monday when Roo fell asleep in the ol’ burban when we were running errands I thought it was a little unusual. Then on Tuesday morning when I woke her up for school she said she didn’t feel like going to school…just like every other morning. I did the usual “Let me feel your forehead”…does everyone do that? Anywho…I felt her head and it was pretty warm. Remember the rules? If you have a fever you get to stay home from school no questions asked. She spent most of the day just resting. Then that evening the fever went sky high. I really hate high fevers, they make me so nervous. She woke up yesterday feeling really yucky and a really high fever. Then the news reports hit that swine flu had hit the state of Arizona. And I got a little nervous…I know, I know.

So I decided to take her to the doctor. We got to the doctor office and I couldn’t believe all the extra stuff their office is required to go through with all this in the news. What is the deal with this? Why is the media and the government making such a big deal about this? Why are they freaking us Moms out? Why am I letting them freak me out? Of course one of the first things the Doctor asked me is if we had travelled anywhere. No we haven’t been to Mexico thank you very much. The Doctor thought that she had more strep symptoms than flu symptoms. How sad is it that after they took the throat culture I was hoping that it was strep? Then we could just throw some antibiotics in her and she would be fine. I think both the Doctor and I were surprised when the strep culture came back negative. So out came the “f” word…FLU people. Of course the Swine Flu subject came up and I asked the Doctor what exactly was it about it that made it so horrible…and guess what his answer was? He couldn’t see what about it that was causing such a big deal. There is no mistaking that the flu kills a large number of people every year. But there is nothing about this flu that is so remarkable. It isn’t a new strain or a severe type of flu. He couldn’t say what the big deal was. I had no idea how they test for flu…do you know how they do it? Well out comes another swab and he stuck it WAY up her nose. I think she was still in shock from the throat culture and she didn’t know what to think about something being stuck that far up her nose. The flu test takes just a little longer so they sent us on our way. The Doctor called a little while later saying that the test results came back positive for type B flu. Which is a good thing…the type A is the bad one.

Now I am going to ignore all the news and take care of my poor little girl…and maybe have some bacon.

I know, I know it isn’t something you get from eating pork.
