Menu Monday Help

I am sick.

I have been sick since Halloween. For some reason I get embarrassed when I am sick. Like it means I am weak. Or, shudder, that my house is germy. Or I am a failure as a woman and Mom and allow myself to get sick. Yeah I know…I am crazy. Crazy and sick. I have had maybe 4 days where I haven’t been running a fever. I don’t think it is a coincidence that it was last weekend that I felt better.

So what does that have to do with Menu Monday?

Well I want to know what’s your favorite “Get Better” recipe. The recipe you pull out when you are feeling a little under the weather. The recipe you fix when your husband or kiddos are sick. Or better yet, the recipe that your Mom made when you were sick as a kid. The MIRACLE recipe!

Who knows, this may turn into a little give-away. I can’t guarantee anything, because right now I don’t have the strength to put together a gift. BUT if I ever do get better there may be a prize.

Any recipes that you share I would love to post on my recipe blog A Pinch of Chaos. I will give you credit for your recipe and link back to your blog. Just let me know when you leave the recipe if you do or don’t want it added to the blog.

Or you can just drop dinner off at my house. Just kidding…a little bit.

  1. I wish I could be bring dinner over to you.
I am really starting to worry that you are still not feeling better.

Hum...favorite thing to make when others are sick....

    Chicken Noodle Soup...
    Recipe:
start with a couple of boneless skinless chicken...boil in chicken broth and water with chopped onions and celery-tops included, salt, pepper to taste. When the chicken is done pull it from your broth...(about 20 mins)chop into bite size pieces.
pull your celery tops out and throw away.
Add chopped carrots and any other veggies you like. Bring to a soft boil.
When veggies are tender add...wide egg noodles.

Yea, that sounds right...I like LOTS of onions.
Serve with a good pan of hot rolls and your household will be better in no time...heheheheee

OK 'lene besure to fix all of my miss spelled words...ok

  4. Ok, so I like to do Chicken Noodle as well, but I either make mashed potatoes or a bread bowl to go with the soup and I try to make the noodles from scratch if I'm up to it. I also like to have lots of Dole Pineapple, Orange and Banana juice. It always helps when I have a cold. The other option is to send your husband to Costco on the way home and grab some of their soup if you are really not feeling well. Hope you get better soon.

  5. The the soup receipe! Same except I use Chicken boullion, it makes it salty, so I don't add extra salt. Love popsicles when my throat hurts. Hope you feel better. I heard this is lasting about 3 weeks!

  6. Well, my get better food is ice cream. Nothing like that for a sore throat.

But a favorite comfort food for us is chicken pot pie. I just buy a frozen pie crust, cook some frozen (or fresh) veggies, use leftover chicken or cook a couple breasts, add all that to some chicken gravy and put it in the pie shells and bake. Yummy.
