SPT - Gifts

SPT LOGO

I know this week we were supposed to be focusing on giving gifts to a neighbor, teacher or co-worker and instead I am the receiver instead of the giver.

After dealing with 5 feverish kids with achy bodies and throwing up and diarrhea since Easter (and not feeling that great myself) I had a wonderful friend and neighbor call me and ask what I needed and I gave her my usual answer of “Nothing, we’re fine”. Instead of listening to my words I think she listened to my voice and told me that she would be bringing dinner in for us tonight. I think she knew if she asked I would just say no.

Why is it so hard to accept the gift of service from others?

  1. I'd never turn down a dinner. I think I love food entirely too much. And I think it tastes so much better when someone else cooks it! :) I hope you are all feeling well soon.

  7. 'Lene,
What a great friend...I am so glad someone is close enough to help you.
It is times like this that I HATE being so far away.

  8. I'm not good at asking for help either. Glad she was in tune to the Spirit and just did it.

  9. What a sweet friend. I wish someone would bring me dinner, but then we're not sick so I guess it wouldn't be right to ask.
Hope you all feel better soon.

  10. What a sweet friend to bring you dinner - and, to see past what you said and really understand you. She must be one awesome friend my dear! I hope your littles are back to normal. Take care, Michelle :)

  11. I agree, it is so hard to come out and ask when friends are asking.. I'm afraid they are just asking to be nice and if I really told them they would be like 'ugh!' lol although I know that isn't the case most of the time. Sounds like you needed a litle help though and I'm glad your friend came through
