Menu Monday

Ok people I am trying to get back into the swing of things with my menu planning. Kind of an easy week to plan.

  • Monday - Sweet and Sour Meatballs over rice
  • Tuesday - Chicken Enchiladas
  • Wednesday - Traditional Thanksgiving Eve Pizza
  • Thursday - I don't know, how about - Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Candied Sweet Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole (love it or hate it?), Rolls and PIES, which this year include a Pumpkin Cheesecake and a Chocolate Pecan Tart --YuMmY!
  • Friday - Yeah um Leftovers
  • Saturday - probably Leftover Leftovers or Taco Bell
  • Sunday - Roast

I think I have all the groceries I need for Thanksgiving so I don't have to worry about going shopping this week. I might have a quick run to Costco for the basics like milk, and for the sweet love of Pete we go through a lot of milk. Lately I have been a little freaked out about milk. Bear with me on this one. Occasionally if I think about where a food comes from I get a little grossed-out -- Hello eggs?!?!? -- and then I have a hard time eating it. So lately milk has been on my mind, well not literally, but the idea that we drink a liquid that a different species feeds it's babies. I like the idea of soy milk, but I am not totally sold on the health benefits of soy. And I don't think soy milk is such a good idea for kids. Yeah I know a little too much time on my hands!

So anywho -- that is the menu for this week.

Also a first happened this weekend. Roo lost another tooth. I was at Target when it happened -- I know shocker I was at Target. So Big J calls me and tells me Roo is freaking out because her tooth is bleeding. I was already in the car and headed home so no big deal since it takes about 2 minutes to get home. I walk in the door and she is frozen with a bloody tooth in her mouth and about a gallon of drool. I don't think she had swallowed since I left for Target. So I reach in her mouth to pull the tooth out. I didn't have to pull at all it was just sitting there in a big ol' puddle of drool and blood. Mind you I usually do the pulling of teeth in our house, Big Daddy handles most of the gross stuff, but I handle the teeth. Not a problem. So as I grab the tooth out comes this big clot of blood and drool with it. I started getting a little woozy and grab her arm and run gently lead Roo to the bathroom to have her rinse out her mouth. By then I am really woozy and tell Roo I will be right out in the hall. I slink down to the floor and try to get my head between my knees before I pass out. Well evidently I really need to loose weight because I couldn't get my head between my knees. And the next thing I know I am opening my eyes with LaLa's face about an inch away from mine asking me what I was doing on the floor. I blacked out from a bloody tooth! What the?!? I have only passed out from blood one other time when I was pregnant with Ham and Big J was getting stitches, and I think it was more being pregnant then the stitches. Blood isn't usually a big deal. I have watched the Doctor do part of a c-section, on me - it was totally fascinating and not gross at all. But apparently a bloody tooth is too much for me to handle. Great now I am a tooth wimp!

  4. I'm so impressed!!!!!! I have a cool little "plan" that has worked really good for me. Take 3x5 cards and on one side write up your meal (spaghetti, salad, breadsticks, etc) on the other side is a shopping list of the items needed. when it is shopping day I just grab out 7 different cards and voila you have your shopping list and menu all done. I have about 25-30 cards but basically rotate the same 12-15 meals. It works great though! I've taught the concept at enrichment and people love it! Anyway KUDOS on being so organized!

  6. Wow, how funny that we are eating the same meals on Thursday and Friday this week. What are the chances of that?

Nothing wrong with a tooth whimp. At least you were sitting down when you passed out. I passed out when I lost my first tooth while visiting my Dad in the ward clerk's office, and just barely missed smacking me head on his desk. I still remember everyone laughing at me. Probably traumatized me for life.
