First Day of School

I thought I was ready for the kids to go back to school.

Last night Big Daddy gave them all a Father's Blessing for the school year. That is such an important tradition for us. I never had a Father's Blessing for school and there sure were times I needed it.

Roo had a another little breakdown worried about school. So I sat and talked to her and got her calmed down and ready to go.

The kids were in bed by 8:45. A little later than we planned, but still a lot earlier than they have been going to bed this summer.

I went to wake the boys up at 7am and they were already awake and talking. They had been awake since 6am. I think they are excited to be back in school. Roo wasn't so eager to wake up. She is her Momma's daughter and it takes her a while to wake up and be ready for the day. They had breakfast and got dressed faster then I have ever seen them get ready for anything.

And then it was time for them to go.

And off they went.

LaLa woke up but decided she was still tired and went back to bed and Ham still isn't awake.

My house is really quiet.

Too quiet.

  1. How wonderful to have a father's blessing!!
I can't wait to hear all about the first day of school.
I will talk to you tonight!

  2. how long is the summer vacation? and the school year? Christmas break? Inquiring minds would like to know....Here in Illinois they go 180 school days....Arizona?

  3. Hey Judy,
Where we live the school district uses a modified year-round schedule. So we start school the end of July, 2 week break in October, 2 1/2 week break for Christmas and a 2 week break in March. School is out the end of May for 2 months. I don't know the day count but it would probably be close to 180. Not all of the schools here are on the same schedule and even some of the other year-round schools may start a week or two after us.
We LOVE the schedule. It is one of the main reasons we purchased the house we did. It is too hot in Arizona in August to do much of anything so the kids might as well be in school and we like having time off during the cooler part of the year to have fun and play.
