Lelly has thought of some wonderful challenges this month:
"in the U.S., we are in the charmed time of early summer, between Memorial Day and Independence Day. school is winding down. the pools are open. the grills are fired up. we linger longer in beds made up with crisp cottons. and freshly bathed children smile up at us with sun-kissed cheeks before dreaming of strawberries and picnics and fireflies. it is a magical time of year. we have the chance to honor our history during this time of year. to remember how our nation came to be. to remember those who have lived and died to protect the things we hold most dear. no matter what country you call home, there is opportunity here to celebrate every homeland. every nation. i hope you will recognize these challenges - they are all borrowed from patriotic songs. and there is so much room for creativity within these lyrics."

Here is my Home Sweet Home:
I love our house. It is almost perfect - just a bathroom short of perfect. I am a first-class hermitess and enjoy being home. Well I do need a few trips to Target and Costco each week, but other than that I am very happy at home. I often find myself smiling when I pull into my driveway when I have been away.
I like walking in my front door. I don't often come in this way, but when I do it makes me happy.
This is my FAVORITE spot in my home sweet home. This is my chair. I have spent many hours reading here and often fall asleep in this chair. When things get crazy and I feel myself spiraling out of control I know that my chair will be my safe spot to land.
***I just wanted to add a quick update on my Dad. He is still in the hospital. He is getting much stronger. Yesterday he was getting pretty feisty so I think that means he is feeling better. I don't know how much longer he will be in the hospital. Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers I truly appreciate it!***
What a wonderful way to feel about your home. I too have hermit tendencies. And that chair looks mighty comfortable.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks beautiful and that chair looks comfy (I smiled when I saw the Ensign and scriptures on your table).
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading the rest of your posts from the last week or so...I'm sending prayers your way for your family.
Beautiful home, I'd be happy pulling into that driveway and walking through that front door...there are advantages to living "way out there!"
ReplyDeleteLoving that comfy cozy you have too!
Glad your Dad is getting stronger!
That chair looks like the perfect place to curl up with a book and just doze off!
ReplyDeleteIt is strange to come in the front door of your own home. Most of us don't do it very often.
ReplyDeleteYour chair looks delightfully compfy!
I too have a reading spot that is my favorite of the house!
ReplyDeleteThat's so great to have your own spot to relax! Love the chair!
ReplyDeleteyour home is beautiful. I am glad your dad is getting better. I too have a favorite chair that I curl up and read a book as well.

"first-class hermitess..." i LOVE that!! (i feel that way very often...)
ReplyDeleteyour home is so unique-looking to me, as our architecture is totally different here.
good news on your dad!
I love that you are happy when you pull into your driveway...I feel the exact same way. Everytime I drive up to my house I just think "I can't believe this is mine." There are plenty newer, nicer, bigger...but it's mine and I love the memories that we've made in it.
ReplyDeleteI love your chair...everyone needs a chair of their own don't you think!?!
So glad your Dad is improving!
Beautiful home! I like the chair. I would love to have one that I could "retreat" to.
ReplyDeleteI am glad your father has more energy. I hope that means he is on the mend.
