Last night was Big J’s band concert.
Last year was his first experience in band and this year he is in the intermediate band as one of two percussionists.
First the beginning band performed a few songs and there was a flute solo.
Then the intermediate band set up to perform.
It took almost as long for them to set up as it did for them to perform, they had to have it just right.
There was a clarinet and flute duet.
And a saxophone solo.
As well as the songs the band performed together.
When you realize these kids have only been together as a band for a few months it’s pretty impressive how good they sound.
Big J and his percussion buddy both played the bells.
As well as taking turns on the bass drum and the snare drum.
His teacher Mrs. B is great.
I liked how she used the concert to give us a little music lesson.
The final song was “Jingle Bells” and the audience was able to join in and sing with the band.
It was fun to have family there to support Big J. Grandma Jo and Grandpa Larry, Aunt Sherri, Aunt Julie, Nathan, Taylor and our whole gang was there.
I am so proud of my own little Animal!
I remember those days...it just seemed like yesterday Matt was is the Jr high Band and then the High School band...Wish I could have heard it...I'm sure it was wonderful!

It looks like it was a beautiful night! Your kiddos are darling!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I was never in the band (*played piano and was an athlete) but I remember seeing my siblings in the band and orchestra. Such fun times!
ReplyDeleteThey really did put on a good concert. Nathan was so impressed with Big J and his drum skills. I think he will be following in his big cousins footsteps.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Christian (or maybe one of his future siblings) to be in the band. What fun times we had as kids going to all of the band/orchestra/choir concerts. What fun memories for Big J (and the rest of the family).
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great night! Gotta love a school band.
ReplyDeleteyou really got some great pictures. i need a better camera, mine never turn out in our multipurpose room.
