This is the press release from the Church: President Gordon B. Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through twelve years of global expansion, has died at the age of 97. President Hinckley was the 15th president in the 177-year history of the Church and had served as its president since 12 March 1995. The Church president died at his apartment in downtown Salt Lake City at 7:00 p.m. Sunday night from causes incident to age. Members of his family were at his bedside.
I will miss his smiling face at General Conference and his wonderful sense of humor. I enjoyed his straight forward way of discussing the gospel. I was always amazed at his stamina. The church has had amazing growth under his leadership and he traveled all over the world to meet with the Saints. But he seemed so sad and lonely when his beloved wife passed away.
And now they are together again.
"The gospel of Jesus Christ is the way of peace. To the extent we follow it and incorporate it in our lives, to this extend will we be blessed and prospered. What a wonderful thing it is to be involved in this glorious work. Let us rejoice in our great opportunity. Let us serve with gladness." - President Gordon B Hinckley
What a wonderful thing to see on your blog.
